We often hear skeptics say, "I can see how tai chi can be useful for relaxing the body and calming the mind. But I don't see how something so relaxing can be useful as a martial art." The response from experienced martial artists is, "How can it NOT be useful as a martial art, if it cultivates a relaxed body and a calm mind."
In fact, if you are not learning to relax the body and calm the mind, then you are not learning a martial art.
